Police: 2 14-year-old boys shot in drive-by
Police say one of two 14-year-olds shot as they walked in a South Side Chicago alley has died.
Officer John Mirabelli says the boys were walking in the alley around 2:30 p.m. Monday when a white Chevrolet sedan drove up, shots were fired, and the car drove away.
Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford says both boys were taken to University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital. According to the Cook County medical examiner's office, Ulysses Simmons died overnight from a bullet wound to his abdomen.
Police say the other boy suffered less serious wounds and was listed in stable condition.
Police no one was in custody early Tuesday.
