Man struck, killed by train
Authorities say one man is dead after falling onto Chicago Transit Authority tracks and being struck by a train that runs parallel to a busy expressway on the city's South Side. Chicago Fire Department spokeswoman Eve Rodriguez says the man darted across the expressway, jumped a wall and fell onto the Red Line tracks on Tuesday afternoon. The man was pinned beneath the train. Rodriguez says he was dead when authorities arrived and that firefighters were trying to remove him. CTA spokeswoman Noelle Gaffney says the incident happened around 4:15 p.m. Chicago police are investigating. No other injuries were reported. Hundreds of passengers were evacuated onto buses.
