Art show at Arlington Park

Arlington Park will host the Prairie State Art Festival showcasing 25 juried Illinois artisans Saturday and Sunday. The artists will be competing for $10,000 in prize money. Each artist will have one or more items with a special horse or horse racing theme on display. Park admission of $7 applies ($6 online) and includes a full day of racing plus a day of art and activities. The show will be held in conjunction with the 2008 Prairie State Festival of Racing, where Illinois-bred horses will vie for in excess of $600,000 in purses. Free health screenings

Touch of Health at 985 Buffalo Grove Road in Buffalo Grove will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday featuring free health care screenings, information on acupuncture, podiatry, chiropractic, nutrition and physical therapy. A free 10-minute massage, blood pressure testing, refreshments, raffle prizes will be available.

Volunteer drivers needed

Maine Township's Friends Indeed Serve & Help is in need of volunteer drivers. The program has been providing residents with transportation to medical facilities in and near Maine Township since 1971. FISH was created by a group of Maine Township residents who wanted to help their neighbors. Requirements include a current driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
