Fore!

The weather has finally warmed up and for duffers, that means heading to the links.

In Lake County, the forest preserve district runs three golf clubs that offer courses that range in size and difficulty level.

Here's a list and some details about each one:

• Brae Loch Golf Club: Located in Grayslake, at 33600 N Route 45.

The club features an 18-hole, par-70 course. The course is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, which means it has met certain environmental standards set by Audubon International.

• Countryside Golf Club: Located in Mundelein, at 20800 W. Hawley St.

The club features two 18-hole courses, each par 72. The Prairie Course has wide-open greens and sand bunkers. The Traditional Course has tree-lined fairways. The club is also an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.

• Thunder Hawk Golf Club: Located in Beach Park, at 39700 N. Lewis Ave.

The 18-hole, par-72 course is situated among 244 acres of forest, marsh and prairie. It is the first public course in Illinois to achieve Signature certification from Audubon International. In all, there are 72 certified courses in the country, many of those located in Florida.
