Officials launch updated Web portal for Medicaid information
State officials say a new Web-based program that catalogues Medicaid patient data will reduce medical errors.
The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services says it has launched an updated version of a Web portal.
It's called the Medical Electronic Data Interchange and keeps data such as medication and immunization histories, lab orders and hospitalizations for Medicaid patients.
State officials say the database also helps reduce redundant care, especially when someone is seeing more than one doctors.
More than 2.2 million Illinois patients are enrolled in Medicaid.
