Fire release Brazilian defender Menezes

The Chicago Fire waived Brazilian defender Bruno Menezes on Wednesday.

Menezes, 24, played in three games, starting two, registering no goals or assists in 208 minutes of action in 2007. The Santos, Brazil native did not appear for the Fire first team in 2008.

The Chicago Fire (3-1-1, 10 pts.) take to the road to play their second of three regular season meetings against the New England Revolution (3-2-1, 10 pts.) on Saturday at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
