Man exonerated after 14 years

A Chicago man has been exonerated of a rape conviction by DNA tests after serving 14 years in prison for allegedly assaulting a 15-year-old girl in 1994.

Forty-one-year-old Dean Cage was convicted by a jury and sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Attorney Peter Neufeld, co-founder of the New York-based Innocence Project, says he was informed by the Cook County state's attorney's office that Cage's conviction had been dismissed after DNA tests eliminated him as the attacker.

Cage maintained his innocence and claimed he was home at the time of the attack, which occurred as the girl walked to school.

On Tuesday, Chief Criminal Court Judge Paul Biebel dismissed the case against Cage at the prosecutor's request
