Stroger's Palatine visit back on
Cook County Board President Todd Stroger's promised meeting with Northwest suburban residents has been scheduled anew.
After pulling out of a forum at Harper College in Palatine last month - amid complaints that the Palatine Village Council had politicized the event - Stroger now plans to host a community meeting at the college June 16.
Stroger spokesman Eugene Mullins said plans were finalized late Tuesday.
The county's recent sales tax increase prompted widespread criticism in the Northwest suburban portion Cook County - particularly among towns bordering and competing for shoppers with other collar counties - and renewed talk of secession from the county.
The meeting will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wojcik Conference Center at Harper, 1200 W. Algonquin Road.
