Clark lifts Twins past Rangers
Howie Clark's single over the head of Josh Hamilton in center field lifted the host Minnesota Twins to a 7-6 victory over the Texas Rangers in a game that saw reliever Bobby Korecky become the first Twins pitcher to get a hit in an American League game.
Korecky (1-0) also picked up his first career victory by getting two outs in the top of the 11th with the bases loaded and then pitching a perfect 12th.
Carlos Gomez led off the 12th with an infield single off Franklyn German (1-3) and advanced to second on a groundout from Delmon Young. Mike Lamb was walked intentionally. Then, with pitcher Livan Hernandez on deck ready to pinch hit, Clark sent one over the head of a leaping Hamilton, who was playing in with the speedy Gomez in scoring position.
Nationals 4, Phillies 0: Tim Redding ran his scoreless streak this season to 13½ innings against big-hitting Philadelphia, and Ryan Zimmerman made three fine defensive players and was on base every time host Washington scored in its victory.
Redding (6-3) threw 6½ scoreless innings, an echo of his performance on April 2, when he tossed 7 in a 1-0 win -- the only other time the Phillies have been blanked this season.
Rockies 4, Giants 3: Clint Barmes homered, and Yorvit Torrealba added a go-ahead, 2-run double in the sixth, leading host Colorado to a win over San Francisco. The Giants have lost a season-high six straight.
