Briefs: Bond set in stabbing case

Bond has been set at $450,000 for an Arlington Heights man accused of attacking his wife Sunday and then stabbing himself to cover up his crime. James Polacheck, 51, of the 400 block of West Miner Street, is charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery. Eda Polacheck, 35, told police her husband punched her in the eye and stabbed her in the back with a kitchen knife after a fight. Arlington Heights police believe Polacheck slit his own throat and stabbed his stomach when she ran to a neighbor's for help. He's been transferred to Cook County Hospital in the care of Cook County sheriff's police.

Three face drug charges

An undercover investigation on Thursday has led to the arrest of three Palatine men on drug charges. Bond was set at $350,000 for Ernesto Seba, 32, of 1937 Old Hicks Road, who prosecutors say sold 28 grams of cocaine to an Arlington Heights undercover police officer for $900. Jose Tello, 30, of 2085 Ginger Circle, gave Seba the drugs, authorities said. His bond was set at $300,000. Also arrested was Ramon Gallardo, 27, of 1450 King Edwards Court, who police said drove Tello to meet Seba. Gallardo's bond was set at $30,000. The three men are due in court June 20.

Memorial Park drive begins

The "Drive to Revive Memorial Park" groundbreaking ceremony in Arlington Heights will begin around noon Monday, right after the Arlington Heights Memorial Day parade. Work will include developing a central plaza, landscaping and adding a picnic area featuring existing monuments and new walkways throughout the park. Memorial Park is the oldest park in the district, with the first memorials dating back to the Civil War and World War I. The park is located in the triangle formed by Fremont, Chestnut and Park Place in downtown Arlington Heights.

Soccer tournament on

The Grove United Soccer Association is holding a tournament all through Memorial Day weekend that will bring in soccer teams from Arlington Heights, Wheeling, Buffalo Grove and Highland Park.
