Kneseth Israel: Congregation Kneseth Israel provides a full range of religious and community programs. A youth program is available for sixth grade to high school. Interest groups meet regularly for men, women, seniors and others. See the monthly newsletter available at www.ckielgin.org.

Religious school is offered for pre-kindergarten to high school. This is the last Sunday of religious school until the fall. For details, call the congregation office.

This week's Torah portion is a special portion for "Bamidbar." The service is led by Rabbi Jonathan Kohn in prayer and study.

Shabbat services are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the synagogue, 330 Division St. in Elgin. Guests are welcome.

Shirat Shalom: Congregation Shirat Shalom, 30W509 Shoe Factory Road in Elgin, offers friendly, participatory Shabbat services, led by Cantor Sarah Alexander, at 9:45 a.m. Saturdays and followed by a community kiddush luncheon.

Services include a spirited Torah discussion, focusing on the "parsha of the week." Join them at 12:30 p.m. June 7 for a class on Revelation and then for Shavuot services at 8 a.m. June 9.

First UMC-West Dundee: On Sunday, the Rev. Steven Mindrup presents the sermon, "Built on the Rock" at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 318 W. Main St., West Dundee. The Scripture lessons are Genesis 6:11-22, 7:24, 8:14-19; Psalm 46; Romans 1:16-17, 3:22b-31; and Matthew 7:21-29.

Sunday school is held for pre-kindergarten through high school at 10 a.m. A nursery is also provided.

Pick-up date for hoagies is Sunday. The church picnic is June 8 and Kane County Cougar game is June 14.

Tickets are on sale for Holly McNeil in concert, a fundraiser for the church, on June 22. $15 for adults; $5 for children 12 and younger.

First UMC-Elgin: On Sunday, the Rev. Jonathan Hutchison gives the message, "I Am Not Ashamed," based on the scripture, Romans 1:16-31, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 216 E. Highland in Elgin.

Holy Communion will be celebrated. Special music will be provided by Deborah Potts, flutist. Christian education for all ages is at 8:50 a.m., and the youth group meets at 11:15 a.m.

St. John: On Sunday, the Third Sunday after Pentecost, the Rev. Howard Gleason will preach, "Some Assembly Required" based upon Matthew 7:15-25, at St. John Lutheran Church, 13N535 French Road in Burlington. The summer worship schedule includes a 9 a.m. Sunday worship service and a repeat service at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

First Congregational: The Rev. Paris Donehoo will speak on "A Compass, a Map and a Snake-bite Kit?" at the services honoring graduates from high school, college, etc. at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 256 E. Chicago St., Elgin. A women's ensemble from the Chancel Choir will sing for the 10:15 a.m. service.

Holy Communion will be celebrated at the 8:15 service in the chapel and the 10:15 a.m. service in the sanctuary.

On Sunday and June 8, the Adult Christian Formation will finish the journey through the first Gospel written, The Gospel of Mark. Everyone is invited to participate at 9:15 a.m. after breakfast in the fellowship hall. Child care is available.

On Sunday and June 8, anyone who wishes to join the church can meet with Rev. Donehoo and Rev. Lois A. Bucher after the 10:15 a.m. service in the library. Each session lasts no more than an hour; lunch is served. Child care is available, if needed. New members will be received June 29.

On Thursday, a church "garage sale" will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at 809 Douglas Ave. Parking lots and a municipal parking lot are nearby.

Church of the Brethren: Join Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren for worship at 9:30 a.m. Sunday when they celebrate Music Sunday.

Second Baptist: On Sunday, the Rev. Nathaniel L. Edmond will bring the message, "I am not crazy!," inspired by Mark 5:1-15, for the 8 and 10:30 a.m. services at Second Baptist Church, 1280 Summit St. in Elgin.

The Male Chorus sings for the 8 a.m. service and the Choral Ensemble sings for the service at 10:30 a.m.

Holy Communion will be observed during both services; baptisms will take place during the 10:30 a.m. service.

The annual Sunday school promotion program will be held during the Sunday school's hour of 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on June 8.

On Wednesday, the Bible study will begin at noon followed by evening Bible study starting at 7 p.m.

First Congregational: On Graduation Recognition Sunday, the Rev. Donald Longbottom, interim intentional pastor, will present the sermon, "Choose To Believe … In Yourself," based on John 8:1-11, at the 8 and 10:15 a.m. services at First Congregational Church, 900 S. Eighth St. in West Dundee.

The first Sunday of the month is for donating non-perishable food items for FISH (Friend I Shall Help) Food Pantry and/or size 5 and 6 diapers for the Community Crisis Center.

Nursery care is available for infants and toddlers ages 5 and under from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Children should be signed in and out.

Coffee and fellowship time, hosted by the Hospitality Team, will follow the services in the narthex.

The church's annual program meeting will take place at 10:15 a.m. in the sanctuary and will include the election of officers. Childcare and activities for children will be provided.

The high school "End of the Year" party will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the home of Rochelle Doty. Call the church office for directions.

Country Covenant: On Sunday, the Rev. Mark Harder will offer the message, "The Ways of God are True" at the 10:30 a.m. service at Country Covenant Church, Route 47 and McDonald Road in Elgin. The Scripture reading is John 14:5-6. Adult Sunday school is held at 9:30 a.m.

King of Glory: King of Glory Lutheran Church in Elgin will observe the third Sunday after Pentecost looking at the theme "Materials provided, Assembly Required" based on Matthew 7:15-29.

Blended service is at 6 p.m. Saturday; traditional style worship is at 8:15 a.m. Sunday with a contemporary worship is at 10:45 a.m. led by praise team singers and band.

Adult Bible classes are held at 9:15 a.m. Sundays along with special educational program for children called Kingdom Kids.

First Congregational: On Sunday, celebrate those who provide the music for their worship at the 10 a.m. service at First Congregational Church, 30 N. Washington St. in Carpentersville.
