Kane County rep to get early start

Kane County Board member-elect Drew Frasz will take his seat earlier than expected.

Board Chairman Karen McConnaughay recommended Wednesday that Frasz fill the remainder of Jan Carlson's term in the 26th District.

Frasz of LaFox defeated 12-year board veteran Carlson in the Republican primary and is running unopposed in November.

"I think it's appropriate that he go ahead and start serving the people of the 26th District," McConnaughay said.

Frasz will be sworn in Tuesday at the beginning of the county board meeting and participate in his first meeting.

McConnaughay appointed Carlson to a spot on the Regional Transportation Authority board in April. As a result, he resigned his position on the county board. The district has been without a representative for roughly a month.

The 26th District covers most of southwestern Kane County, including all of Blackberry, Big Rock and Kaneville townships as well as parts of Sugar Grove, Virgil and Campton townships.
