BGHS, local police handled threat well
I'd like to take a moment to congratulate the administration at Buffalo Grove High School and Buffalo Grove Police Department for responding so well to another "gutless" threat on a bathroom wall.
I'd also like to call out the parents of BG students who kept their children home from school on Tuesday, May 6. This was the "supposed" kill date. Despite a notification and precautionary steps taken and despite the fact that both the administration and police considered this event non-threatening and not credible, my freshman twins informed me classes were less than half full!
As a parent of a freshman at NIU who was blocks away from Cole Hall when the campus was riddled with gunfire and having been through a similar situation in December again at Northern, I understand safety.
All the parents that kept their children home from school did was give credence to the "coward" seeking attention. As the taped message from our principal stated, we believe our campus is safe and school will be in session tomorrow.
This situation was handled expertly by both the school and police department -- kudos to you! Boo to the parents that didn't believe in them!
