Cops say man stole car
Sugar Grove police say they arrested a speeding motorist early Sunday morning who then admitted to stealing the car. Michael F. Robinson, 26, of the 43W500 block of Rt. 30 in Sugar Grove, was pulled over and arrested at 5:16 a.m. while driving north on Rt. 47 near Galena Boulevard, police said. He was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, driving while his license was suspended and speeding, police said. After an officer stopped him for driving a black 2000 Hyundai 20 mph over the posted speed limit, Robinson told the officer he had just stolen the car, police said. He was taken to Kane County jail, police said, and his court information wasn't available.
'Passport' to museums
The Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St., is participating in the "Passports to Adventure" program through Labor Day. Children ages four to 12 collect stamps in a booklet by visiting museums throughout the suburbs, and are eligible for prizes. The booklet is available starting Tuesday at the history center. Forty museums are participating.
Campton workshop set
A community workshop to discuss potential development in the village of Campton Hills is planned for 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bell-Graham Elementary School, 4N505 Fox Mill Blvd. The meeting is open to the public and will be attended by representatives of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning and the village plan commission. Ribbon-cutting ceremony
The St. Charles Chamber of Commerce has planned a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Colors Collision, 2002 W. Main St. Suite N. Cancer survivors celebrate
"Celebration of Life -- Humor, Hugs and Hope" cancer survivor celebration and brunch will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday at Hilton Garden Inn, 4070 E. Main St., St. Charles. Theater summer camp
Steel Beam Theatre in St. Charles is registering children ages six to 14 for its annual summer camp. The two-week instructional program takes place Mondays through Fridays and concludes with an onstage performance at the nonprofit theater, 111 W. Park pass discount
The Fox Valley Park District is offering coupon booklets that provide passes to aquatic parks and Blackberry Farm for low-income resident children. Each booklet has a value of $324 and can be purchased for $10 by families that are at or below the poverty level. The booklets contain four daily admission passes for families of four to Splash Country Water Park, Phillips Park Family Aquatic Center and Blackberry Farm. Application forms are available at any community center.
