Breakfast club to hold lunch fundraiser

The Breakfast Exchange Club of Gurnee will hold its 20th Annual "Salad in the Park" spring luncheon fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 13 in the Viking Park Dance Hall, 4374 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee.

Proceeds from the event will be used to promote prevention of child abuse and other club programs in the village of Gurnee and throughout Lake County.

The cost is $6 per person, which includes a choice of soup, salad, roll and beverage. Each ticket also will qualify the holder for the Salad in the Park Drawing. This year, the drawing will feature two tickets to the Cubs-Pirates home game on May 18 and four tickets to the White Sox-Royals home game on June 4.

A bake sale also will be held during the luncheon.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance from any Breakfast Exchange Club member. Carry-out orders will also be accepted via fax or e-mail. Selections must be submitted on or before Friday. Chartered in 1985, the Breakfast Exchange Club of Gurnee sponsors a variety of local fundraising activities such as the annual Salad in the Park Spring luncheon and the VikingFest RibFest held in conjunction with Gurnee Days in August. Money raised from these and other events help fund the club's support of youth, community service, Americanism and child abuse prevention programs.

Chapter meetings are held at 7 a.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the Golden Corral Restaurant, 1455 N Dilleys Road, Gurnee.
