Local quilter honored
St. Charles resident Rachel Wetzler recently won a third-place award in the 24th annual American Quilters Society Quilt Show and Contest. Wetzler was recognized for her quilt, Delicious, in the small wall quilt pictorial category. More than 35,000 quilting enthusiasts attend the annual event, which took place in late April in Paducah, Ky. This year, quilters from 43 states and 11 foreign countries competed.

Learn how to write cover letters and other correspondence at the Tri-Cities Unemployment Group's meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the St. Charles Library, 1 S. Sixth Ave. TUG is an ongoing volunteer-based program formed in October 2001 to address the needs of the unemployed and under employed in the area. One-on-one guidance is offered by TUG steering committee representatives. Job postings are available through TUG's electronic newsletter. A ribbon-cutting ceremony sponsored by the St. Charles and Geneva chambers of commerce on Thursday marks the opening of Helping Hand PC Services & Networking Inc. in its new location at 40W270 La Fox Road, Suite A. Township brush pickup
The next St. Charles Township brush pickup is June 9. Unincorporated St. Charles residents should call the township road district office at (630) 584-3496 no later than Friday and leave their address if they have brush to be picked up.
Sell crafts at festival
Booth space for crafters, except jewelry and doll clothes, at the Swedish Days Craft Show June 17 to 19 is available. The juried show features crafts in several mediums. Eligibility requirements, general information and application are available at the Geneva chamber Web site, www.genevachamber.com.
