Come on, get out of the dark ages
This morning's article, "High-tech presents for the modern mom," (May 5) was straight out of the dark ages.
I'm the mom of two children. I also happen to be an information technology professional. If I made a "tech gifts for Mom" list it would include a terabyte server and a way to permanently secure ActiveX, DNS and BIND (and if I had that, I'd be making more money than the rest of the IT industry put together).
Articles like this perpetuate the idea that the only tech gifts moms could want are house wares. Is it any wonder young girls think careers in computers aren't for women?
