Honors Day: Student academic achievement is showcased during Honors Day Tuesday. William Cronon speaks about his prize-winning book, "Nature's Metropolis: Chicago and Great West," at 9 a.m. in the Harold and Eva White Activities Center, 325 E. Benton Ave., Naperville.
Opera workshop: North Central music students sing arias from various operas at 8 p.m. Thursday in Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave., Naperville. Free. Info: (630) 637-5626.
Chapel speaker: North Central alumnus Todd Hertz, managing editor of Ignite Your Faith magazine for high school students and the Christian College Guide, speaks at the weekly chapel service at noon Thursday in Koten Chapel at Kiekhofer Hall, 329 E. School St., Naperville. Hertz also is co-author of "The unGuide to Dating: He Said/She Said on Relationships," a humorous and honest look at how to manage dating and singlehood. Info: (630) 637-5417.
Community picnic: North Central's neighbors and friends are invited to the annual Cornerstone Day picnic for lunch and entertainment from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday under a banquet tent at Jefferson Plaza, Brainard Street and Jefferson Avenue, Naperville. Hot dogs, hamburgers, salads and beverages will be served. College bands and the show choir will perform.
Art showcase: Local artists' works are showcased at 7 p.m. Friday at The Union, 129 W. Benton Ave., Naperville. Free. Info: (630) 637-5417.
Art show: Fifteen graduating art majors at North Central College display their works in a show titled "Inspired" through June 6 in the galleries at Osterle Library, 320 E.
