Car fire in South Elgin

Authorities are investigating a suspicious fire in South Elgin that burned two cars and a sport-utility vehicle Wednesday causing $20,000 in damage. The South Elgin Fire Protection District arrived at 8:09 a.m. at the Fox Valley Body Works parking lot at 664 N. La Fox St. and spent five minutes putting out the blaze, fire officials said. Crews found the engine compartment of a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV burning with flames spreading to two other cars parked next to it. Those two cars sustained moderated fire damage to the front ends, fire officials said.
