Psychic examines old skull found 16 years ago in Lake County
WAUKEGAN -- The services of a psychic and forensic experts have been enlisted by the Lake County coroner's office to take a look at a skull discovered in a ravine 16 years ago.
A report filed with the Lake Forest Police Department indicates an off-duty military police officer walking near Fort Sheridan found the skull mounted on a fallen tree.
Various experts examined it in the early 1990s but could not identify who it was.
Coroner Richard Keller says authorities believed the skull had been outside for about 10 years because it was bleached and weathered. He says a database search with the National Crime Information Center returned no hits from dental exam results.
Late last month, Keller shipped the skull to University of North Texas where Harrell Gill-King, a forensic anthropologist, will make another effort to determine identity.
According to a published report, the skull was examined by Mount Prospect psychic Mel Doerr who said he thought it belonged to a woman about 40 years old who committed suicide.
