Fire under investigation

Authorities are investigating a suspicious early-morning fire started in a building under construction Friday, officials said. Gurnee fire officials responded to Boardwalk Car Wash on Route 45 just north of Washington Street around 3:47 a.m. Friday, officials said. Firefighters found fire on a wooden staircase landing that led up to an office area, officials said. Firefighters determined the fire started on the landing, but looked suspicious. The Gurnee Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau and Lake County Sheriff's Department are investigating.
