New director takes over at Danville VA hospital
DANVILLE -- A new director's on the job at the Veterans Affairs Administration hospital that serves central and eastern Illinois and parts of Indiana.
Michael Hamilton took over the top spot at the hospital in Danville last week.
The 60-year-old comes to the facility 35 miles east of Champaign after working as associate director at the VA's Northern Indiana Health Care System.
He replaces Robert H. Beller, who became director of the VA Medical Center in Milwaukee.
Hamilton's a Vietnam veteran and says he wants to make the Danville hospital more visible in the community.
In addition to the hospital, he also oversees clinics in Peoria, Springfield, Decatur and West Lafayette, Ind.
