Elgin trees cut for unknown reason
Why cut down over a dozen old, tall trees in a row ... along Washburn Avenue between Perry St. and Lowrie School?
Several tree service trucks appeared in a row and took down over 12 magnificent tall trees along the south side of the street. I can see trimming a tree if it brushes power lines, or taking down one or two sick or dangerous trees -- but several blocks in a row?
No wonder they did it all at once -- so no one would have time to complain and stop the work. The stumps where the trees were cut look healthy, no rot or hollow sections. So, what gives? Who made this decision -- ComEd? How do we prevent such tree loss from happening again?
