Barrington group honors top citizen

When it comes to doing good things for her community, Kim Duchossois ranks right at the top, according to the Barrington Area Development Council.

During this week's annual meeting at the Vehe Barn in Deer Park, the council named Duchossois as Barrington's Citizen of the Year.

The Barrington Area Development Council is a not-for-profit civic organization supporting programs and initiatives that are "good for Barrington."

Each year, the development council searches through community volunteers in the area to find an outstanding but little recognized individual or organization.

Duchossois was selected from nominees representing all areas, including health care, conservation, preservation, education, youth work, public service, business and transportation.

Barrington Area Unit District 220 Superintendent Tom Leonard gave the evening's keynote address.
