Fundraiser to fight homelessness

Journeys from PADS to HOPE will hold its "Bid for HOPE" fundraiser from 6 to 11 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Stonegate Conference Centre, 2401 W. Higgins Road, Hoffman Estates.

The event includes gourmet foods, drinks and the silent and live auction of artwork, sports memorabilia and tickets and gift certificates to many of the popular shows, restaurants and events in Chicago.

Cost is $75 per person.

Journeys from PADS to HOPE helps individuals in Northwest Suburban Cook County who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Focusing on intervention and prevention, Journeys offers clients mental health support, job counseling and referrals and help in securing a permanent residence. Journeys coordinates 18 faith-based shelters that provide many with a warm place to sleep and hot meals. Last year, Journeys was able to successfully transition more than 30 of its clients out of homelessness.
