Man chased, charged with selling cocaine to cops

A Chicago man sold cocaine to undercover officers Tuesday in Elgin, then found neighbors disapproved when he ran, police said.

Tilray Knovell Montgomery, 32, of 1242 W. 64th St., was charged with delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and criminal trespass to a residence, police said.

Montgomery was paid $100 for 1.6 grams of cocaine -- then ran off, with drug and gang units in pursuit on Elgin's near east side, police said.

Two women who were sitting on a back porch refused his offer of money to allow him to hide in their home, police said. He ran inside anyway, and the two men who watching television in the living room ordered him out, police said.

Montgomery was arrested just before he exited the back door, police said.

Montgomery was held in the Kane County jail on $35,000 bond with a May 21 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.
