N. Aurora hydrant flushing
The North Aurora Fire Department will be hydrant flushing within the village this week for areas east of the Fox River and between Randall and Orchard roads, and the week of May 12 for areas west of the river and east of Randall Road and west of Orchard Road. Judson prayer breakfast
Judson University will host its 20th annual Golden Corridor Community Prayer Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, in the university's Lindner Fitness Center, 1151 N. State St., Elgin. Eric Metaxas, the author of "Amazing Grace: William Wilberforce and the Heroic Campaign to End Slavery," is the keynote speaker. Metaxas will describe how Wilberforce's faith brought about a "reformation of manners" that transformed both England and western countries. Figgins memorial service:
A memorial and prayer service Friday will honor fallen St. Charles police Sgt. Daniel P. Figgins, who died on the job three years ago this spring. The 7 p.m. service will be at Christ Community Church, 37W100 Bolcum Road, St. Charles. Call (630) 628-3934.
Batavia post-prom
Batavia High School's post-prom party will be from 11:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Saturday at the Funway Entertainment Center in Batavia. Tickets to the parent-supervised event are included in the price of prom tickets, but post-prom tickets are also available at the high school or at the door. The event will include a dodgeball tournament, roller skating, bowling, mini-golf and food. Door prizes include Cubs and White Sox tickets, gift cards and televisions. Food drive needs help
Volunteers are needed to help collect, sort and pack food items in St. Charles Sunday for the annual Letter Carrier Food Drive. Volunteers can work two-hour shifts or the entire afternoon at the Salvation Army's Joe K. Anderson Community Center, 1710 S. Seventh Ave., or at the post office on West Main Street. Last year, more than 12,000 pounds of food were collected. Call (630) 377-2769.
Green Market aid
The Geneva Green Market, 75 N. River Lane, a market featuring locally grown and minimally processed produce, is seeking volunteers to help one day a week from the end of June to the end of October.
