Man fatally shot in N. Chicago

A 21-year-old man was shot to death today in North Chicago in what authorities believe was a gang-related confrontation.

Livy Geater, whose last known address was in Waukegan, was shot while on the street outside a house on the 1900 block of Elizabeth Avenue, Lake County Coroner Richard Keller said. At least one other man was shot and taken to an area hospital, Keller said.

Geater was pronounced dead on the scene about 2:35 p.m. He was shot several times, in the chest and abdomen, Keller said.

An autopsy will be conducted today.

The Lake County Major Crimes Task Force was called in to investigate the shooting.

No other details were immediately available.
