Kane County educators to be honored Friday

Kane County educators will be honored Friday night when the Kane County Regional Office of Education hands out its annual awards.

Dozens of teachers, administrators and support workers have been nominated.

The banquet is at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles.

Awards to be presented are elementary, middle school, high school, administrative and associate educators of the year; support staff; Regional Superintendent's Award; and the Kane County Educator of the Year Award. All nominees receive recognition as distinguished educators.

The nominees are:

Teachers Sister Margaret Gazdik, Clare Woods Academy; Kristina M. Wenberg, Mooseheart Child City and School; Deanna Andriano, Batavia High School; Verene Huizenga, Rotolo Middle School; Patricia Butler, West Aurora High School; Sandra Lowder, Hope Wall Elementary School; Tammy Chiovari, East Aurora District 131; Cynthia Fioramonti, East Aurora High School; Jonathan E. Gaspar, Waldo Middle School; Anthony Melton, Bardwell Elementary School; Alfred Morales, Oak Park Elementary School; Tomas Onsurbe, Brady Elementary School; Richard Bogue, Dundee-Crown High School; Howard Caracciolo, Carpentersville Middle School; Terri Dawson, Jacobs High School; Amy Morrison, Eastview Elementary School; Paula Evans, Prairie View Grade School; Jo Anne Miller, Country Trails Elementary School; Carrie Yetter, Howard B. Thomas Elementary School; Debra Brubaker, Kaneland John Stewart Elementary School; Ronald Brown, St. Charles North High School; James Reed, St. Charles East High School; Gayle Findley, Geneva High School; and Ann Ramsey, Harrison Street Elementary School.

Support workers Victoria Fladung, network manager, Geneva School District 304; Jane M. Gazdziak, assistant superintendent, Geneva District 304; Diane Brown, administrative assistant, St. Charles East High School; Renee Kuryliw, Kaneland McDole Elementary School paraprofessional; Randi L. Ochsenschlager, administrative assistant, West Aurora District 129; and Dale Seidelman, secretary, East Aurora High School, were nominated.

W. Tom Hay, assistant superintendent, Carpentersville District 300; Charles McCormick, superintendent, Kaneland School District 302; and Cheryl LaMaster, St. Charles North High School, instructional coordinator for media technology, were also nominated.
