Military beef recalled

Beef sold at some military bases around the country -- including Great Lakes Naval Training Center in North Chicago-- may have been contaminated with E. coli. The Defense Commissary Agency has issued a voluntary recall on all 85 percent lean ground beef sold at commissaries serving Great Lakes and nine other bases around the country. In a statement issued Thursday, the military suggested that anyone who bought the meat this month should dispose of it or return it for a full refund. The department issued the recall after conducting lab tests on beef from one supplier.
