Arlington Hts. gas station robbed

Arlington Heights police are looking for the man who robbed a gas station clerk at gunpoint early Sunday.

Police Sgt. Richard Kappelman said the robbery occurred at 4:15 a.m. at the Mobil gas station at 3005 E. Rand Road.

He said the suspect displayed a silver handgun to a station clerk before receiving about $150 in cash. After he took the cash, he fled on foot.

The subject is described as about 6 feet tall and 175 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head and black pants. He had a black bandanna over his face, revealing only his eyes, and wore black gloves.

No one was hurt.

The incident is still under investigation and appears to be unconnected to other incidents.

"Throughout the Northwest suburbs, there have been several robberies since January that we're looking at, but we're not convinced that this individual is connected with those at this point," Kappelman said.

If anyone has any information about the incident, call (847) 368-5300.
