Official who hired unqualified teen as building inspector quits
The Chicago official who boosted the 2004 hiring of an unqualified teenager as a building inspector has resigned.
Nearly 14 months ago, Mayor Richard Daley refused to fire political crony Christopher Kozicki. The city's inspector general recommended Kozicki's firing for the hiring of Andrew Ryan, the 19-year-old son of a carpenters union leader.
At the hiring-fraud trial of Daley's patronage chief and other city officials, Kozicki testified he inflated the teenager's score on an interview to guarantee he would be hired.
Noelle Brennan was appointed by a federal judge to monitor city hiring. She says the city months ago should have accepted the inspector general's recommendation to fire Kozicki.
