Hoffman Estates meeting minutes missing

Hoffman Estates Mayor William McLeod announced Monday that all executive session minutes from 1959 to September 1990 are missing.

They were discovered missing late last year by Village Clerk Bev Romanoff while the village was attempting to fufill a Freedom of Information Act request.

Romanoff found a one-page memo signed by retired Village Clerk Virginia Hayter stating the minutes were lost in the 1991 move from the old village hall on Moon Lake Boulevard to the current building at 1900 Hassell Road.

State law requires municipalities to keep records of closed sessions and eventually release non-sensitive information to the public.

The village does have records for minutes after 1990, McLeod added.
