Senior Book Discussion: The library offers a senior book discussion from 9:30 to 11 a.m. the fourth Monday of each month. The next program will take place today, when the featured book will be "Dream When You're Feeling Blue" by Elizabeth Berg. Large-print and paperback copies of this title are available at the Readers' Services Desk.
Lunch and Learn Program: Learn the most common reasons for litigation and the practical actions an employer can take to reduce risk in "Legal Risks for Business Owners" from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Business adviser Mark Ernst will lead the program and a free lunch will be served.
Inside Writing & Publishing: In "Screenwriting Basics," join Doug Bell of the Chicago Chapter of the Screenwriters Group for this introductory talk about the form of the screenplay, story structure, character development, scene, dialog and what a movie company expects of a writer from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
• The next "Inside Writing and Publishing" topic to be presented will be "20-20-20 -- Dialog, Plot, Research" at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Stop-in for a Story: The library offers Stop-in Stories for children of all ages. Registration is not required. The program is open to children not already enrolled in a registered storytime. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. The next session is from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday. For details, call the Children's Department at (847) 438-3840.
Soccer Feet: Physical therapists Teri Elliot-Burke and Lori Pothast will present a program about how to prevent and treat foot problems in young athletes from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Practical stretching and strengthening treatment techniques will be discussed for middle school, high school, collegiate and professional athletes.
The Cycling Sisters Return: Biking duo Evie Weber and Norma Witherbee will share photos and personal stories from their latest biking adventure following the Underground Railroad from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday. The program is free, but registration is required.
Lap Tots Play Group: Lap Tots Play Group, a drop-in program for babies and toddlers 23 months and younger, is held monthly. This month's session will meet from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Toys and books will be provided. Registration is not required.

Saturday Storytime Series: The library will present storytimes with storyteller Carol Weston at 10 a.m. Saturdays, May 3-June 28. Children of all ages are invited for stories, songs, crafts and fun. Programs are free and no registration is required. Adults must accompany children.

Yoga for Preschoolers: Certified yoga instructor Laurie Kane will lead an introductory yoga class for unaccompanied children 3 and older at 10 a.m. Wednesdays, May 8-29. One Book One Community: Beginning in May, the library will kick off its second annual community-wide reading project with "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen. Copies of this book in many formats will be available for checkout at the Readers' Services Desk.
The goal of Ela's One Book, One Reading community project is to encourage all adults in the Library's district to read and discuss the same book at the same time.
During June and July, the library will present various One Book events and programs, as well as several community book discussions.
The program begins with an event from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 7. The North Central 'O' Gaugers Model Railroad Club will set up a train on their modular, traveling 12-inch-by-28-inch layout. Learn about the rail history of North America and see models of both steam and diesel-powered locomotives. Festivities will include refreshments and free caricature drawings from noon to 4 p.m., as well as raffles for copies of the book, T-shirts and other related items.
The following Community Book Discussions are scheduled. Registration is required:
• 1 to 2:30 p.m. June 18 at Shady Oaks Bed and Breakfast, Lake Zurich.
• 7 to 8:30 p.m. June 26 at the library.
• Noon to 1:30 p.m. July 24 at Midwest Bank, North Barrington.
