Little League to open Saturday

"Play ball," will be heard Saturday for the Tri-Cities Little League Association as players and coaches open their 2008 season.

Ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m. at the Randall Oaks baseball complex behind Dundee Middle School, along Route 72.

The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. for 650 young baseball players from East and West Dundee, and parts of Carpentersville, Algonquin and Gilberts.

They range in age from 5 to 18 years old. Games will be played at the Randall Oaks complex, owned by the Dundee Township Park District, as well as South End Park in West Dundee and a ball diamond in Westminster Glen neighborhood in Carpentersville.

Seniors can enjoy April in Paris

Senior Services Associates Inc. invites area seniors to attend an "April In Paris" on Friday at the 101 S. Grove Ave. location in downtown Elgin.

The festivities will begin with live entertainment provided by the talented Beaumonts at 10 a.m.; a "Silly Fashion Show at 10:45 a.m.; Party Lunch at 11:30 a.m. along with door prizes; and bingo beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Partygoers are invited to layer themselves with an assortment of mismatched items to model for the group; carry weird items or accessories like stuffed animals, colander, etc.

Suggested donations are $2 for members and $3 for nonmembers.

Marimbamania comes to library

Come celebrate National Library Week on Saturday, at the Dundee Township Public Library with a program for the entire family.

Marimbamania will be presented at 1 p.m. Saturday in the library's meeting room.

Marimba Man David Hall brings 20 years of experience to this unique program of music from around the world. He will perform multicultural selections on authentic marimbas and xylophones.

Free tickets will be available at the children's desk 30 minutes before the performance. Call the children's department at (847) 428-3661, ext. 310 with any questions.
