Lombard library's in a great location

In response to a letter by Robert Biddle suggesting that Lombard's Helen Plum Library move to Main and Parkside, I would submit that the best asset the library possesses now is its location. The library shares a campus with a world class, well-renowned national treasure; Lilacia Park. The serene and beautiful surroundings are something that could never be replicated in a new setting.

The library board is well into a process of determining a reconfiguration of space and significantly upgrading (and probably adding onto) its current building. The library board and the park district board have reached an agreement to make this possible.

I would love to know how taking a parcel of property at a major local intersection off of the tax rolls is in the best interests of Lombard taxpayers. We're all too familiar with the Biddle approach to issues. It consists of hurling social grenades from a distance.

The library board has worked diligently with other government bodies to create the best possible facility for its patrons. They have taken a very intelligent approach to what the evolving role a library will play in future generations. If Lilacia Park was right out your window, would you move?
