Spaghetti dinner offered in Elgin
The Elgin Chapter Izaak Walton League and Boy Scout Troop 10 invite the public to their annual Spaghetti Dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, 330 Griswold, Elgin.
Dinner will include spaghetti with meat or marinara sauce, garlic bread, salad and dessert.
Cost for a family of four is $20, individual is $6, seniors age 60 and older are $5 and children under 3 are free.
Proceeds will be used for conservation and Scouting projects.
Build a memory at concert, auction
A special concert event and silent auction, "A Night To Remember," will take place Saturday at Highland Christian Academy 2250 W. Highland Ave., Elgin. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a silent auction and the concert beginning at 7 p.m.
Jeorge Holmes, a Judson College alumni and Senior Pastor at Highland Fellowship Church, will perform the greatest hits of Elvis Presley, Mario Lanza, Frank Sinatra, Luciano Pavarotti and more. Holmes is a regular performer with the Elgin Opera.
The cost to attend the concert is $10 per person. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling (847) 741-5530 or at the door.
All proceeds from the concert and auction will benefit Highland Christian Academy, a private school and day-care enrichment for students in preschool through eighth grade for 23 years.
Highland Fellowship Church is on the west side of Elgin, 2½ miles south of I-90 and a half-mile east of Randall Road. The church oversees the school.
