Event to spark kids' interest in science
The Boys and Girls Club of Lake County will sponsor Saturday Science and Engineering Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the club, 724 S. Genesee St., Waukegan. The event is intended to increase young people's interest in and access to both science and engineering by offering hands-on experiments.
Scientists and engineers will also be able to answer questions about how to prepare for a career in the science or engineering fields.

The event is open to all Lake County youth ages 6 to 18. Focus areas include computer science, food science, forensics, robotics, plants and soil, butterflies, bones and joints, nutrition, the human body, manufacturing engineering, and more.
Key partners in the program include Abbott Laboratories, Kraft Foods, Cardinal Health, Illinois Bone and Joint Institute of Gurnee, University of Illinois 4H, Rosalind Franklin University Medical School, and Vista Health System.
