Such irresponsible journalism hurts all
While I am quite sure that the Daily Herald wants to publish the news fairly, it cannot do so with its blind acceptance of slanted news wire articles.
During most of 2007, the defeatist Democrats have continually called for the withdrawal of our troops from Iraq because as Senate Majority leader Harry Reed declared, "Iraq is lost." The liberals all parroted Sen. Chuck Hagel that the troop surge was, "The most dangerous foreign policy blunder in this country since Vietnam."
And early presidential candidate Joe Biden said, "This whole notion that the surge is working is fantasy." Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have opposed the surge from the beginning.
All of these national political actors continue to criticize the surge because they claim the Iraqi government has not met any expected benchmarks.
Despite testimony showing the Iraqi government has met at least 12 of the 18 benchmarks recommended by Congress and the Iraqi Study Group, two articles you published April 8 failed to mention this success.
America is being damaged by irresponsible journalism.
