String concert will help build Habitat house
An opportunity to hear world-class string musicians is coming to Barrington on May 9. At 7:30 p.m., the celebrated Classic Arts Trio will perform a benefit concert at Barrington United Methodist Church, 98 Algonquin Road (at intersection with Route 59).
Featured selections include quartets by Mozart, Faure and Schumann.
Concert proceeds will support Habitat for Humanity-Joyful Hands Partnership as it builds a fourth home in Carpentersville.
The Classic Arts Trio, consisting of Lyric Opera cellist Walter Preucil, his wife, accomplished violinist Stephanie Preucil, and noted pianist William Koehler, has given mission concerts for more than 15 years.
Their special guest this year will be Sally Chisholm from the Pro Arte Quartet.
Walter Preucil played at Carnegie Hall to rave reviews, and the Preucils have performed throughout Europe and the U.S.
"The purpose of the benefit concert is to share in the joy of music for the glory of God," Stephanie Preucil said.
International desserts will be served.
For tickets, at $25 for adults, $6 for children, or a love offering, call (847) 382-9530.
"We want everyone to enjoy this wonderful music," said Bob Wulff of Barrington UMC's Missions Committee.
