Fire trades forward to San Jose for draft pick
The Chicago Fire traded the MLS rights to forward Ryan Johnson to the San Jose Earthquakes in each change for their 2010 fourth-round supplemental draft pick.
Johnson has not played for the Fire since the 2006 season.
Drafted in the third round (26th overall) by Real Salt Lake in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft, Johnson played seven games before being traded to the Fire for former defender Jack Stewart. Johnson appeared briefly in three games for the Fire before he was placed on the team's First Refusal list on March 3, 2007.
Since then, Johnson played for Ã-sters IF (Sweden) before signing with his current team, the New Jersey Ironmen of the Major Indoor Soccer League.
