Levine banned from downtown hotel

Swissôtel Chicago announced Thursday that Stuart Levine has been banned from the hotel, but it may be a moot issue.

Levine likely will have other accommodations for at least the next five years.

The government's star witness in the corruption trial of Antoin "Tony" Rezko, Levine is testifying under a plea agreement in his own corruption case in which the government promises not to seek a sentence of more than five years in prison.

Nonetheless, Swissôtel officials acted to make it clear Levine would not be allowed to stay there again after he testified to bingeing on drugs with friends at several downtown hotels, including Swisshôtel.

"We were shocked to learn what occurred during Mr. Levine's visit, and he is no longer welcome at Swissôtel Chicago," said Jack Breisacher, hotel manager, in a prepared statement.

Swissôtel Chicago has a zero tolerance policy regarding illegal drug use and was not aware of Levine's activity, the statement said.
