Batavia 2, DeKalb 0

Despite chilly and rainy conditions, the Batavia girls soccer team defeated DeKalb 2-0 in a Western Sun Conference game Monday in Batavia.

"(The weather) was pretty brutal, but it wasn't too bad once we got started," said Batavia coach Jim McAlpin. "Our footing wasn't too bad."

Both of Batavia's goals were scored in the first half.

Mary Wandolowski tallied first one at 21:37 inside the box, and Liz Barnes notched the second goal at the 3:35 mark.

"The goalie didn't have much of a chance," McAlpin said of Barnes' goal.

Batavia outshot the Barbs 14-0.

"We pretty much had control of the game," McAlpin said. "We showed good composure and moved the ball around."

The Bulldogs improved to 6-5-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
