An important hour of contemplation

My husband Earl and I observed Earth Hour in candlelight, a walk under the stars, and back inside again listening to music on our cranked-up solar radio.

It was relaxing and fun, plus gave pause in thinking and action to cut back on our electricity usage.

I am reading "Big Coal" by Jeff Goodell, from the Carol Stream Library, and was shocked to learn on average each American uses energy from coal in the amount of 20 pounds a day. Our computers, and so many electrical appliances we take for granted, are drawing electricity unless we turn off the power switch.

Anyway, thanks, Carol Stream, for signing our village on to Earth Hour.
