Briefs: New leadership in Dist. 15

Palatine Township Elementary District 15 has named Rebecca Allard assistant superintendent for business and auxiliary services, effective July 1. Allard has served as an assistant superintendent for five years at Geneva Community Unit School District 304. Retired assistant superintendents George Lingel and Robert Strande are jointly filling the position on an interim basis for the current school year.

Speed checks start Sunday

The Arlington Heights Police Department will begin a speed enforcement campaigns at four intersections, starting on Sunday and ending Sept. 20. Speed enforcement efforts will be conducted mostly during weekdays during the morning and evening rush-hour periods. The four intersections are: Algonquin and Arlington Heights roads, Palatine and Rand roads, Palatine and Arlington Heights roads, and Northwest Highway and Euclid Avenue.

Conant students go to Reno

Conant High School in Hoffman Estates is sending several students in May to Reno, Nev., to compete in the 2008 Business Professional of America National Leadership Conference. The Conant students competed with 664 others from 40 high schools across the state in Oak Brook in March. The national conference goes from May 6 to 11, and the students will compete in financial services, administrative support, information technology and management, marketing and human-services events. Conant students who qualified to go to Reno are Tony Barbera, Maham Bukhari, Sai Challapalli, Eileen Chong, Ashley Chu, Sunny Desai, Kelly Graver, Ernesta Ignotaite, Allen Kaitherath, Shannon Kelly, Lucy Krol, Naveen Nallappa, Anip Patel, Lubomir Petrovsky, Ronak Shah, Toral Soni, Alex Sturwold, Dhara Thakkar, Dhwanil Thakkar, Rohan Trivedi and Eric Wadsworth.
