Judson's Robinson earns NAIA honor

DeWayne Robinson has become the first Judson University men's basketball player to be named to the NAIA All-American third team.

Robinson, from Memphis, Tenn., is the fourth Judson men's basketball player to earn NAIA All-American status. He was also named to the NCCAA All-American first team and this is the second season in a row he has been named a NCCAA All-American.

The CCAC Player of the Year led Judson to its finest season, ever, as the Eagles won their first CCAC regular season title and CCAC Tournament title in the history of the program. He also helped guide Judson to its first-ever appearance in the NAIA Division II National Tournament in Missouri.

In the NAIA, Robinson finished 10th in the nation in scoring (21.1 ppg) and 20th in field goal percentage (.558). He led the CCAC in scoring and was third in steals (1.85), fourth in field goal percentage, fifth in assists (3.26), and sixth in rebounding (6.2).

In the NCCAA, he finished second in the nation in scoring and was ninth in field goal percentage and 15th in steals. At the beginning of March, he was named the NCCAA men's basketball National Player of the Week.

Robinson surpassed the 1,000 point career mark this season and currently has 1,334 points (12th). He is currently tied for fourth in free throws made (339), fourth in free throws attempted (500), 8th in steals (137), and 11th in field goals made (521). He needs just 338 points to move to second all-time on the Judson scoring list to surpass Andrew Burdett (1,671). The all-time leading scorer for Judson is Tom Randall with 2,381 points.
