Batavia man is charged with possessing child pornography

A Batavia man was released on $50,000 bond Thursday after several explicit movies of children were found on his computer, authorities said.

Todd M. Libman, 46, faces 10 child pornography charges after the images were found at his home on the 1000 block of Know Lane, Kane County prosecutors said.

Libman was arrested after police searched his home on Wednesday. He was booked into the county jail, pending a May 1 court appearance before Judge Allen Anderson.

An investigation of Libman was launched after the Illinois attorney general's office received a tip from federal agents, prosecutors said.

Libman was in bond court early Thursday and posted the $5,000 needed to go free, the sheriff's office said.

The terms of Libman's bail bar him from using computers or contact with children.

He also is required to wear a monitoring tracker, prosecutors said, adding Libman could be charged with additional offenses.

It was unknown if he had hired an attorney.

Libman's charges are Class 3 felonies and punishable by up to five years in prison.
