Last year: Zach Johnson won his first major title, closing with a 3-under 69 for a 2-shot victory over Tiger Woods, Retief Goosen and Rory Sabbatini. Johnson finished at 1-over 289, the first winning score over par since 1956.

Last week: Johnson Wagner won the Houston Open for his first PGA Tour victory, holding off Chad Campbell and Geoff Ogilvy by 2 strokes. Wagner earned a spot in the Masters with the victory. … France's Gregory Bourdy won the Estoril Open for his second European Tour title, edging England's David Howell in a playoff.

Notes: Tiger Woods won the 2005 tournament for his fourth Masters title, beating Chris DiMarco with a 15-foot birdie putt on the first hole of a playoff. Woods set the tournament record of 18-under 270 in 1997. He also won in 2001 and 2002. The PGA Championship winner in his last major start, Woods is coming off a fifth-place finish in the CA Championship at Doral -- his first loss since September. The 13-time major champion has 3 PGA Tour victories this year to tie Ben Hogan for third place on the career list with 64. Woods also won the European Tour's Dubai Desert Classic. … Phil Mickelson, the 2004 and 2006 winner, tied for 23rd last week in the Houston Open. … Gary Player is making his 51st straight Masters start, breaking the record he shared with Arnold Palmer. Player, the 1961, 1974 and 1978 winner, is 72.

LPGA Tour

Corona Championship

Site: Morelia, Mexico

Schedule: Thursday-Sunday.

Course: Tres Marias Residential Golf Club (6,539 yards, par 73).

Purse: $1.3 million. Winner's share: $195,000.

TV: None.

Last year: Silvia Cavalleri became the first Italian winner in LPGA Tour history, closing with a 7-under 66 for a 2-stroke victory over 2006 winner Lorena Ochoa and Paraguay's Julieta Granada.

Last week: Ochoa won the Kraft Nabisco Championship for her second straight major victory and third win in three starts this year. The top-ranked Mexican star finished with a 5-under 67 to beat Suzann Pettersen and Annika Sorenstam by 5 strokes.

Notes: Ochoa and Cavalleri top the field, along with Granada, who was second the last two years, and 2005 winner Carin Koch.
