Why do we tolerate mess in Illinois?
I have seen articles in Fence Post displaying intense distaste for the Republican Party and the Bush administration. One said "worst administration ever," another "incompetent," etc. History will determine if this is fact.
It is unfortunate that the same people do not voice their distaste for what is happening in Illinois.
Can they be happy with Gov. Blagojevich and state Sen. Emil Jones? I doubt it. The governor spent over $1 million of taxpayer money on special sessions in which nothing was accomplished and another $550,000 on 1,000 plane trips to Springfield. How much food for the poor would $1.55 million buy?
Exelon-Edison donates $150,000 or so to Jones and employs three Jones family members. How ethical is that when there's a rate bill to consider? Jones abused his power by not allowing the Senate to override a veto, delaying the rate reduction compromise for two months. What in theory may be legal is not necessarily ethical.
Keep thinking your party is the answer. The reality is both parties have problems. Do you want to be a party robot or part of the solution? Vote for the better candidate -- in either party.
