Memorial Mass held for soldier killed in Iraq
A soldier from Queens, N.Y., was remembered Saturday during a memorial Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Naperville.
Spc. Jonathan Rivadeneira, 22, was killed Sept. 14 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Baghdad. Three other soldiers from Rivadeneira's squadron were killed in the same blast.
Rivadeneira was a medic who enlisted when he was 18.
He was married to Heather Nied, a Naperville native he met at boot camp in March 2004 when she was in training for the National Guard. Heather has been staying in Naperville since Jonathan was deployed last October.
